IRHOC
GOING FOR GOLD
THEME
2016, the year of the summer Olympics, so what better time than to host an Olympic themed event? The Olympics, an event known around the world; one that promotes teamwork, leadership, and shows that hard work does pay off. Endless hours of training ends with one winner, one team, that is crowned the Olympic Champion with a gold medal and their home country’s anthem playing. And yet, it brings together the world through competition, support of their athletes, and lasting friendships.
Although we will not be crowning anyone as the top “Olympian,” we aim to serve as an aid in guiding them to their own podium, a podium of leadership. With the afore mentioned traits also present in Residence Hall Associations and Residence Hall Councils, it was all too appropriate to incorporate the Olympics into our theme. Thus, our theme for IRHOC 2016 is “Going for G.O.L.D.” As mentioned previously, each letter recognizes the four paths of our conference: growth, opportunities, leadership, and diversity. We have envisioned programming that promote these four sub-themes. In following our theme, we have compiled a list of common conference terms that we have temporarily renamed for this conference to fit our theme. They are as mentioned below:
First time Delegate: First Time Olympian
Delegate: Olympian
Attending Universities: Teams
Housing: Olympic Village
Advisor: Coach
Program Rooms: Venues
Opening and Closing ceremonies: Ceremonies

-Conference Chair- Hey! I’m Jess and I am so excited to serve as the Chair for IRHOC 2016. I am currently a Junior at IUPUI studying Neuroscience/Psychology. I am thrilled to start higher level involvement at the state level. Some of my favorite things are puppies, beaches, chicken nuggets, and spending time with my friends. I’m always searching for my next challenge and cannot wait to take IRHOC head on along side my amazing staff members.
-Vice Conference Chair- I am a sophomore majoring in finance and international studies. I joined IRHOC 2016 because I had a great time at GLACURH 2014 and would like to share with others such a fun experience at IRHOC. I love painting and playing the violin and flute.
